I must admit-I have had an extremely busy couple of months.  Our office is growing!  Patients seem to be coming out of the woodworks (yes!)   We have hired 2 new therapists and it feels like we need at least one more.  A few weeks ago I was beginning to feel a bit frustrated.  One of my patients had seemed to hit a plateau-he wasn’t making as much progress as he was making before.   But then the funniest thing happened.  I was sitting with him on the rug at his preschool.  We were doing a following directions activity and all of a sudden he said something to make me laugh!  This little four year old made Miss Adrienne laugh!  I realized that this is why I do this job-I do it for moments like these.  In one moment of a crazy day filled with many obligations-a four year truly put a smile on my face.  Then I remembered that one year ago he came into our office for therapy-he could only cry and scream because he had no words. He literally would cry and scream for a half hour.  Fast forward one year later-he is using 4-5 word sentences.  I am writing all of this to say that about this time of year our kids can sometimes do things to frustrate us-to make us think that they may not be making as much progress as they should.  But think about where they were a year ago or even at the beginning of the school year.  When you think about it-they have come so far!  A few weeks ago I forgot to recognize the small moments.  I am here to remind you to enjoy this journey with your little ones and don’t forget to laugh with them-you will be SO glad that you did!
