My Child is Talking Jibberish

Frustrating that is the word that comes to mind when I used to try to talk with my 2 year old niece.  She knew what she wanted to say but I could never quite understand what she was saying.  I found myself just nodding along and pretending that I understood, because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.

I could not bear to look into those adorable huge brown eyes and ask her to repeat herself 2,3,4 or even 5 times.

For many of us, this happens a lot of the time between you and your child.   If you your child is over the age of 3 and you understand them less than 75% of the time, it’s time to look for outside help.

The good news is that a child’s language system has an extraordinary ability to grasp new concepts.  I have found that in most cases, the earlier a parent starts with therapy the easier it is to make progress, but it is never too late!
