First Quarter Down

It is official-in our county the first quarter-first nine weeks of the school year is gone! I know I keep saying this but where is the time going?!

If I am being totally honest-I have had a bit of a rough start to this school year. Usually I have all of my shiny new school supplies (yes I still buy them). I have all of my therapy goals and units ready to go and I have nothing but great expectations for the upcoming school year.

But this summer was an unusual summer. I had a few bumps and it knocked me over a little. So when the school year started I found myself scrambling to be sure everything was in place for the school year and everyone (my patients, their parents and my amazing therapists) had what they needed.

Perhaps you may find that this has happened to you.

  • A teacher or therapist that your child just loved has gone to another school
  • Your child has changed schools and the transition has been difficult
  • You had to move
  • A death in your family has left you reeling

Well with the first nine weeks gone and only 10 full weeks left in this calendar year, I am here to gently remind you (and myself) that time does not wait…for anything or anyone. So let’s forget our setbacks, disappointments and missed goals and move ahead. I am setting new goals for the remainder of the year. I encourage you to do the same. For those of you that are debating starting speech therapy or tutoring with your child-this is a great time to start. Speech Builders still has spaces available for your child. I love that the second grading period is like a clean slate for us all. We only have 9 weeks left of school this year-so lets make it count!
